In spite of her numerous challenges, Imakhu has led a well rounded life: proud mother of two
college grad daughters, performer, columnist, writer, radio personality, ordained interfaith
minister, Queen Mother & Elder High Priestess of the Afrakan Kemetic temple Sacred Shrine of
Mwt Ast in Trenton, NJ (co-led by Imakhu Atef HruKhuti Geb Ast). She is also an initiated African
Water Priestess, who celebrates the flow of life and honors the quest for peace. Imakhu has
overcome personal difficulties through goal setting, self-evaluation, a focused will, and the
reclamation of her own personal power and health. As a result, Imakhu has coached many on to
self-improvement while continuing on her life's journey.

Imakhu recently retired her own Internet radio station (AKERU! NuAfrakan Network) , and online
magazine (AKERU! NuAfrakan Magazine), in order to fully commit to her Water Woman tour and
her writing. Imakhu continues to produce and host her own syndicated Internet radio show and
community/Internet TV show ASHE!, celebrating African culture and personal empowerment.

Imakhu has also been her own business agent for the last fifteen years. Imakhu achieved her
dreams while facing heartbreak, financial devastation, betrayal, health challenges, and abusive
relationships. Today at age 46, Imakhu shares the triumphs of how she continually overcame
life obstacles to achieve her dreams and inner peace.  (

Challenged, Not Crippled...

Imakhu Mwt Shekemet lived most of her life unaware that the physical challenges
she faced since childhood were due to an inherited seizure disorder. For ten years
she was actually misdiagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She also discovered later in
life that she had been plagued by chronic asthma, the result of suffering from
annual chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. In spite of her health challenges,
Imakhu has a full, impressive, colorful life and career. She has learned how to
make appropriate changes in daily routines and diet in order to continue making
the most of her already abundant life. She has also learned to turn the energy
around to help others as an ordained interfaith minister and ordained healing
minister.
